Keepers of the Funk, is in tribute to Cordell Mosson, “Boogie”. He was a Grammy Award winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honored musician and bassist. A long time, respected and important member of Parliament-Funkadelic, the Originators of The Funk and was instrumental in defining the “P-Funk” sound we all love. Boogie was born in New Brunswick, but grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey. After his passing in 2013, lifetime companion Donna Snead, his children and Otis Hawk (aka Que) began working to continue his legacy by fulfilling his wish of giving back to young people through music. In 2016 Donna, the family and Que decided to create a Foundation for Boogie and began the hard work of putting it all together, thus The B'Nevolent Funk Foundation was born.
Washington DC's own Nex Xzit, was brought on board in 2020 to produce a version of Keepers of the Funk, from music originated by Michael P-Funk Patterson. Nex Xzit features the talents of Marguerite “Ms. Margo” Bruce on Lead Vocals, Ron “Rio“ Rivers on
